Chelsea manager Graham Potter has praised centre-back Wesley Fofana for his goalscoring display in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Leeds United.
A win was all that Chelsea and Graham Potter needed today after a six-game winless run, and they secured the tree points to relieve the pressure.
They still missed too many big chances, which suggests that the goalscoring issue remains a problem for Potter, but this time, Fofana’s goal proved enough.
Interestingly, this is somewhat what Chelsea had missed recently. Bear in mind that almost 25 percent of Chelsea’s goals last season were scored by their defenders.
It is safe to say that Potter was very pleased with Fofana’s performance.

“Wesley Fofana [had] been a big miss for us. He’s one of the players who [had] been out for a while,” the manager told BBC Sport after the game.
“He is physical, brave with the ball, and does what he does well in the box which is attack the ball.
“It gave us a win.”
The win does not have a big impact on Chelsea’s position in the Premier League as they still sit 10th in the table.
But this might be the confidence boost they needed ahead of the second-leg match against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
