Chelsea manager Graham Potter believes the team’s latest signing Mykhailo Mudryk will excite the Stamford Bridge crowd going forward.
The Blues announced the transfer just prior to their game against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon and took the opportunity to present the new signing to the fans at Stamford Bridge at half-time.
The 22-year-old signed an eight-and-a-half-year contract and will wear the number 15 shirt for the rest of the season.
The unusual contract length is clearly Chelsea’s strategy to be able to continue investing in players while remaining compliant with UEFA Financial Fair Play regulation.

It is not magic, however. The number will eventually add up in the future — e.g. from FFP’s perspective, Chelsea are still paying Kai Havertz’s amortised transfer fee until 2025 — but the new ownership group seems to feel that it is a risk worth taking in order to rebuild the team.
The plan is to build a team of exciting young talents and according to Potter, Mudryk is exactly that.
“He is a young player with exciting quality in the final third,” the Blues manager said about Mudryk after the 1-0 win over Palace (via BBC).
“He is very fast and direct, and I think the crowd will like him.”
Fortunately for the fans, Chelsea’s social media team has made it very easy for them to see how exciting an attacker Mudryk can be.
