Steve Nicol has ripped into Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling with a pretty harsh assessment on him.
Raheem Sterling, who’s one of the most experienced players in a very young Chelsea squad, is a nailed-on starter so far under Mauricio Pochettino.
The £50million winger has started every Premier League game this season, with his two goals both coming in the win against Luton Town.
However, the 28-year-old’s come under-fire for some criticism this week.

ESPN pundit Nicol suggests any praise towards Sterling in the opening weeks of the season has been over the top. In addition, he made the intriguing comment that the English attacker can’t really be a leader within the dressing room.
When discussing potential leaders at Chelsea, Nicol told ESPN: “Raheem Sterling seems to be the only one, but really? In my opinion, he’s struggling with his own form. He’s scored a couple of goals against Luton, and all of a sudden I hear people talking about how he’s started the season well. You and I (the presenter) could score against Luton.
“Raheem Sterling, if that’s your answer, that tells you how long a season this is going to be for Chelsea.
“Raheem Sterling hasn’t been consistent. I don’t imagine that, as a leader, he would be particularly consistent. I think it would depend on what side of the bed he got up on in the morning.”

Sterling can definitely lead on the pitch with his performances, which have been a lot better than most of his teammates this season.
In addition, we’re certain all the young players around the club are leaning on a serial winner like Sterling for experience and advice.
