‘Have to say’: Rio Ferdinand says player Chelsea want to sign has been better than Marcus Rashford

Rio Ferdinand has claimed on the ‘FIVE Podcast’ that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is having a more impressive season than Marcus Rashford.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for the Serie A star, who has proven this season that he is one of the best strikers in world football.

Last night saw him at the double again, as the league leaders laid down a statement in the Champions League last night.

The Nigerian has already hinted that a potential quarter-final against Chelsea is a prospect that he is relishing.

This may be to impress a set of potential future employers. The Blues are reportedly one of a number of elite sides to enter talks with Napoli over a potential deal.

His abilities this season have not evaded pundits in the game. Ferdinand has claimed that he has impressed more this campaign than Manchester United’s Rashford.

He said: “Splitting hairs again. There ain’t much in it. It’s hard.

“Osimhen then. Over the season, you have to say Osimhen probably”

The England international has enjoyed a sensational campaign so far, as he almost single-handedly firing his side to a top four finish.

It ultimately means the praise is extremely high for Osimhen, who is expected to certainly move in the next couple years.

A recognised striker is certainly high on the agenda at Stamford Bridge, given the fact that they have not had a reliable goalscorer on their books for a while now.

While Kai Havertz has been finding the net in recent weeks, he has struggled to show the consistency required to be a regular in that position.

With more and more creative players being added every window, someone to finish off the chances is becoming imperative at Stamford Bridge.
