Chelsea have now been told by Roberto De Zerbi that Mauricio Pochettino has a “special” talent on his hands in Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Italian shared his thoughts on the Chelsea No.15 when speaking to Bobo TV.

So, what did Roberto De Zerbi say about Mykhailo Mudryk in full? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the 44-year-old worked with the Ukraine international at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Mudryk impressed under De Zerbi with two goals and nine assists in 19 appearances, and the Brighton boss has now tipped the 22-year-old to do great things in football.

De Zerbi said: “Mudryk’s potential is over the roof, it’s not even measurable but he needs to be managed specifically, he needs special management, mostly mentally. He’s very sensitive but he’s a great guy. Still a work in progress but he can be special.”

We couldn’t agree more.

The £88.5m man is clearly a seriously talented footballer, and while he struggled at Stamford Bridge following his January move to England, he was not the only one who failed to produce the goods at Chelsea.

With a full pre-season under his belt, working alongside a superb coach in Pochettino, we would expect Mudryk to be one of the Premier League’s most improved players next term.

Pochettino needs to simplify things for Mudryk at Chelsea

In our view, Mudryk looked like he was trying to do too much after his £88.5m January move, which is to be expected – he was probably desperate to justify the transfer fee.

The Ukrainian has remarkable physical traits, with his unbelievable speed and balance in particular standing out from the rest.

Mudryk has also impressed Pochettino with his desire to play for Ukraine’s Under-21 side to improve his game this summer, despite the fact he is now considered part of the senior setup.

Therefore, we think Pochettino – and Mudryk – would benefit from simplifying his game, focusing on runs in behind and doing the basics right in the final third.

With a bit of confidence inside him, Mudryk has the potential to become another Eden Hazard for Chelsea.
