Darren Bent insists Brighton star Marc Cucurella wouldn’t start for Chelsea in their best starting line-up.
Cucurella, who was Brighton’s player of the year last season, is strong linked with a move to Stamford Bridge during this summer transfer window.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea have made a bid worth more than £50million for the left-back, who’s pushing for a transfer to West London. There’s still no official answer from Premier League rivals Brighton, though.
Incidentally, it’s been reported that Cucurella has agreed personal terms with the Blues ahead of the potential switch.

Cucurella wouldn’t start for Chelsea
TalkSPORT pundit Bent believes Cucurella wouldn’t be guaranteed a starting role if his deal to Chelsea went through.
“I like Cucurella. I think he’s a very good player going forward. His first season at Brighton he was brilliant,” Bent told talkSPORT.
“He gets forward, causes problems, has a nice left foot, good distribution, good energy, and he can defend.
“He would be a good signing. I’m not calling him a squad player at Chelsea, but I think if everyone’s fit he doesn’t start.”

Mr Versatile
In fairness, Cucurella could turn out to be such a valuable player in Chelsea colours, so let’s hope this deal can be pushed over the line.
He looks tailor-made to play in the Blues system at left wing-back, albeit Ben Chilwell is the player to beat in the squad to that position. However, he can comfortably slot in as a left-sided centre-back, too.
Thiago Silva, who turns 38 next month, can’t be expected to play every game. Therefore, expect some rotations at times in the centre-back slots.
With Chelsea hoping to play 60-plus games next season across all competitions, Cucurella could be such a valuable option.
