One Chelsea star has really gone up in supporters’ estimation after his performance in the Club World Cup final on Sunday.
Chelsea beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-0, with Cole Palmer scoring a brace and Joao Pedro grabbing the Blues’ other goal.
Going forward, Enzo Maresca‘s men were great, but they were also solid defensively.
Malo Gusto has received a lot of plaudits after his display, but he is not the only Chelsea defender who has come in for praise.
Chelsea fans want Trevoh Chalobah to stay
Since returning from his loan spell at Crystal Palace in January, Trevoh Chalobah has impressed for Chelsea.
It is believed that Chelsea are still willing to sell Chalobah this summer, but that is not something that supporters want to see after watching him at the Club World Cup.
One Chelsea fan thinks the club will find it difficult to sign a better centre-back than the 26-year-old. “There is no exotic 20-40m CB out there that’s better than Trev Chalobah. We KEEP this lion!”
Another Chelsea supporter shared that sentiment, posting on the social media platform X: “I’m not sure any defender is better than Trevoh Chalobah out there. Man does what a defender is meant to do, a must keep.”
Another user on X thinks Chalobah, Gusto and Robert Sanchez should all be retained after their heroics in the US. “Keep Chalobah, keep Sanchez and keep Gusto, idc.”
One Chelsea fan simply wrote: “We seriously need to keep Chalobah.”
Another posted something very similar. “We need to keep Chalobah, man.”
For a couple of Chelsea supporters, Chalobah must be retained at all costs during this transfer window. “Keep Chalobah at all costs idc.”
What Trevoh Chalobah has said about Marc Cucurella at Club World Cup
Chalobah can only get better if he stays at Chelsea, especially when he is surrounded by players like Marc Cucurella.
Cucurella continues to be an excellent example for members of Enzo Maresca‘s squad and really impressed Chalobah in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup after making an excellent goal line clearance against Fluminense.
Chalobah spoke about Cucurella and that piece of defending after the game and said: “Obviously the goal clearance from Cucurella was amazing, and the hunger and fight we show is what’s needed from a team in a tournament like this.”
Of course, the England international remaining at Stamford Bridge may be out of his hands. And with Chelsea spending so much money again, sales may be required before the transfer window closes.
