Roy Keane has suggested Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger has snubbed a move to Manchester United when looking for a new club ahead of next season.

Rudiger, 29, is a brilliant defender that will be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.

The centre-back’s Blues contract expires at the end of this campaign and it’s now been confirmed he will be exiting when it runs out.

Sky Sports pundit and Man United legend Keane reckons Rudiger has already turned down a switch to Old Trafford:

Keane was asked on Sky Sports whether the Red Devils should try sign the Chelsea centre-half.

His response: “I think they have done, but he thought no I want to win some trophies.”

Interestingly, Man United are one of numerous clubs linked with a summer attempt to sign Rudiger as a free agent. The report names Man United, Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain as suitors. Also, it’s been claimed Real Madrid are closing in on a deal for him.

Would improve United immensly

For certain, Rudiger would be a quality signing for Man United, who will be managed by Erik ten Hag next season.

It’s crushing news for Chelsea fans that Rudiger is going when this season ends, something which will be made even worse if he joins a Premier League rival.

Of course, a club the size of United will be desperate to return to the top as soon as possible.

It’s why Blues supporters should keep their fingers crossed that Rudiger exits to join a club abroad.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes the Blues need to thing long and hard about how they go about replacing such an influential figure of the defence. They need the takeover process to be completed first, though.
