Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has named Eden Hazard as one of the best players he has ever faced in his career.

The England international told BBC Sport’s TikTok that the former Chelsea man made things very tough for him when he was playing for London rivals Tottenham.

Hazard has often been the measuring stick for players that have made the move to Stamford Bridge in recent years.

January addition Joao Felix has already drawn plenty of comparisons to the Belgian in his short time in West London due to how difficult it is to get the ball off him.

Meanwhile, Noni Madueke has cited the 32-year-old as an inspiration due to his time with the Blues.

It’s fair to say things have not worked out as planned for Hazard ever since he made the switch to Real Madrid in 2019.

He now hardly features for the European Champions, whilst his international career with Belgium also came to an end following a group stage exit at the World Cup in Qatar.

It is easy to forget then just how special he was at Chelsea, however Walker has reminded everyone of his qualities by naming him as one of the three toughest opponents in his career.

He said: “First of all I would say Eden Hazard. We’ve had some good battles at Tottenham. You know, Tottenham v Chelsea. He was really tough to mark and sometimes I got the better of him, but he sometimes got the better of me.”

It could certainly be said that things are not looking too bright for Walker at the moment.

With Pep Guardiola recently saying he would struggle to feature in his new system at City, it may be time to think about a change at club level.

With Chelsea’s Reece James also about to displace him for England, prospects are not as bright as they once were for the former Spurs man.
