Tim Sherwood insisted that Chelsea have no hope of stealing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Speaking on The Kelly & Wright Show, Sherwood suggested that an exchange between the two London adversaries for Kane would be unfathomable.
A headache for Harry
The England captain will be placed in a delicate situation regarding his future once the campaign concludes.
He attempted to leave Spurs before the start of this season, with Manchester City showing extreme interest.
Pep Guardiola’s employers offered Daniel Levy £100m (Sky Sports) for his prized possession, but rejected their advances.
Levy values Kane at +£120m (Sky Sports), meaning the British transfer record will have to be broken again for his services.
City splashed £100m (Sky Sports) on Jack Grealish, yet don’t rule them out paying even more for the attacker’s international teammate.
Chelsea almost spent as much on Romelu Lukaku, yet may already have reservations over the £97.5m (Sky Sports) man from Inter Milan.
Could Chelsea chase after Kane?
Lukaku is currently playing second fiddle to another expensive forward, Kai Havertz, therefore Thomas Tuchel might want another, more efficient number nine added to his squad.
There are few more accurate than Kane across the continent, with 22 goals to his name this term.
His tally could be improved significantly within a side like the European champions, not to mention enlarging what is a very small trophy cabinet for the Tottenham talisman.
However, the likelihood of Levy allowing his crowning jewel to join a bitter rival is extremely slim, to say the least.
“He won’t go to Chelsea. He won’t leave Tottenham to go to Chelsea or Arsenal, so it narrows it down to wherever he thinks he can best win,” said Sherwood on Kane’s next possible destination.
With any of the capital city residents out of the question, that leaves the two Manchester inhabitants.
Out of City and United, there is only one winner.
