Former Chelsea striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has now claimed that he was the fastest player at the club last season.

Speaking in a press conference for new club Marseille via TNT Sports, he said he hit speeds of 36 km/h whilst training with the Blues during his only campaign with the club.

Aubameyang has recently sealed his move to Ligue 1, with the majority of those at Chelsea just happy he is off their books after a dire season.

He scored just three goals, one of which being in the Premier League, and did little to show the goalscoring prowess supporters had seen during his time at Arsenal when he was described as ‘exceptional’.

It has been all change in the striker role this summer, with both Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku brought in to feature in those roles at different points.

They may not yet be done, with rumours of a late move for Dusan Vlahovic still floating around.

Aubameyang says he’s faster than Mudryk

It is one of their former stars who made the headlines with his recent statement though, claiming that he was the quickest player at the club despite his age.

He said: “I feel very good. Little anecdote, I held the record for speed at Chelsea last season in training. 36 km/h. So at that level, I think I’m alright.”

This would mean he had recorded a quicker speed than Mykhailo Mudryk, who joined the club in January.

One thing that was instantly noticeable about him was his pace, and he clocked in as one of the fastest players in the entire league.

It is likely to be a big season for the Ukraine international, who has already looked to have upped his game in his pre-season appearances.
