Darren Ambrose thinks that Chelsea’s Mason Mount has been in poor form recently.
Aged 23, Mount has already achieved so much in his young career.
There’s no doubt the academy graduate is one of the key players in Chelsea’s first team, which is proven by back-to-back Blues player of the year awards at Stamford Bridge.
It’s been a fairly underwhelming start to the 2022/23 season for him, though, something you could say for plenty of his club teammates as well.

Mason Mount in poor form
TalkSPORT pundit Ambrose has reflected on Mount’s latest England call-up by highlighting a considerable drop off in his form.
“Mason Mount, look, he had a great season last season, but in terms of how he’s playing now, he’s been off it,” Ambrose told talkSPORT.
Mount has zero goals and one assist in eight Chelsea appearances this campaign, but he did set up a goal in the final match before this international break.
He started and played 90 minutes during Graham Potter’s first game as the new head coach, which was a 1-1 draw against Red Bull Salzburg. His assist for Raheem Sterling in the Champions League group stage match should give him a little boost.
Incidentally, talkSPORT’s Andy Jacobs recently explained Mount looked much better against Salzburg.

Huge England camp for him
There’s no doubt this mini break with England is massive for Mount.
The Three Lions play Nations League games against Italy and Germany, which are the last matches they’ll play before the winter World Cup kickstarts in November.
For Mount, he’ll want to guarantee he’s in the starting line-up for England’s World Cup opener against Iran on 21 November.
It seems unlikely his club form will impact his spot in the final squad, plus he started three of England’s four games in the most recent international break. But his return of four goals in 31 senior caps for his country is underwhelming, so he could really do with a big two weeks to get his season properly up and running, as well as recementing his England starting position.
