One Chelsea player is not happy with how his career at Stamford Bridge has gone.

Malang Sarr is frustrated at what has happened since he joined Chelsea and his failed transfers away from the club, journalist Dean Jones recently told GiveMeSport.

Chelsea signed Sarr from Nice back in 2020 after his contract expired there. The centre-back was loaned out to Porto before returning to west London for the 2021/22 season.

He made 22 appearances during that campaign and won the FIFA Club World Cup, but it has been all downhill for him since then.

Sarr is now stuck training with Chelsea’s U21s and has grown so disillusioned with life at Stamford Bridge that he reportedly refused to play in any of the club’s Carabao Cup games this term.

Malang Sarr frustrated with Chelsea career

Sarr is not happy with how his career at Chelsea has panned out, according to Jones.

On the 25-year-old, the journalist said: “He’s frustrated about how his Chelsea career has panned out and that potential transfers haven’t worked out. He’s now stuck, which has probably left him slightly humiliated and embarrassed. So, from that sense, I can understand his frustrations.

“But I’d be astonished if that’s extended to him refusing to play for Chelsea. There’ll be more news to come on this. I don’t believe we can let his story continue without hearing more about the other side of it.”

What next for Malang Sarr?

He will definitely be leaving Chelsea; it is just a matter of when. His contract expires next summer and that will not be renewed given that he is nowhere near the first-team picture at Stamford Bridge.

The Frenchman either leaves then, next January or at the end of the season. The best outcome for everyone is if he departs in the summer.

Sarr cannot go another year without playing football, while Chelsea need to try and get all or at least some of his wages off their books.

According to Spotrac, the centre-half earns £120,000 a week, which is a lot of money for a player training with the U21s.
