Ben Foster has admitted he’s been really impressed by Enzo Fernandez so far in a Chelsea shirt.
The Blues splashed out a British-record transfer fee of £106.8million (Sky Sports) to sign Enzo Fernandez earlier this year from Benfica.
He’s quickly established himself as a key player at Stamford Bridge, starting 18 consecutive games for the club since his mid-season arrival in a new league and new country.
The 22-year-old’s reputation went sky high after his huge role in Argentina winning the World Cup last winter, which ultimately convinced Chelsea to spend big on one of the world’s most exciting young stars.

Despite his huge transfer cost, Foster thinks Chelsea’s No 5 is turning into a great signing for them.
When discussing Fernandez on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Foster said: “Awful lot of money, but I think it’s worthwhile. I really do. He’s got absolutely everything.”
It does feel like Fernandez is still trying to find his feet in the Blues XI, which can’t be easy when there’s so many changes around him and the team is struggling for results.
However, you’ll often spot the central midfielder doing a couple of things per game on the ball, whether that be a long-range pass or a piece of skill, that does make him stand out.

Fernandez is fulfilling a job right now for Chelsea in a No 6 position at the base of midfield.
We do enjoy watching him tackle and spray passes from the deep-lying midfield role, but it’s restricting him as an attacking threat.
In our view, the Blues will get the best out of him next season if he moves forward into a box-to-box midfield position. This would require a new signing to screen the back four, though.
Joe Cole said earlier this month he would love Chelsea to sign West Ham’s captain Declan Rice to play alongside Fernandez at Stamford Bridge. Now that is a combination we could definitely get behind!
