Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand thinks Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill has got everything.

Levi Colwill has been a key player for Chelsea this season and Ferdinand has told Rising Ballers that he believes the 20-year-old could become an important figure for England too.

Colwill has not missed a single game in the Premier League for the Blues so far this season, featuring in all seven of their matches.

The central defender, who has actually been playing at left-back, had a crucial role in Chelsea’s first goal against Fulham on Monday, providing the assist for Mykhailo Mudryk’s opener.

With Ben Chilwell expected to be out injured until December, it looks like Colwill will be staying at left-back for the time being.

Future England centre-back

Colwill was part of Gareth Southgate’s last England squad but is yet to win his first Three Lions cap. However, Ferdinand is expecting that to change.

Speaking about the Chelsea star, the United legend said: “I see him as the England centre-half in waiting because I think he’s got everything.

“I see him at Brighton, composure, asked to play a different way, adapted straight away. As long as he stays on it, his mindset stays strong, works at his game still, I think he’s got a huge opportunity.”

Honestly, while Colwill is still just 20, it is not crazy to suggest that he is quite a complete centre-half.

At 6 ft 2, the England international, who John Terry thinks has been “brilliant” this season, has the height, while he is also good on the ball.

According to WhoScored, Colwill completed 67.5 passes per game last term, which was the second-highest average in Brighton & Hove Albion’s squad.

This season, of course, Colwill has not been playing in central defence. But it is obvious to see that the Chelsea man has the traits of a modern-day centre-half.
