Steven Gerrard has praised Chelsea’s Graham Potter by claiming he’s definitely earned his opportunity to manage at Stamford Bridge.
Potter, who has worked his way up the managerial ladder, landed one of the biggest coaching roles in Europe last month.
The Englishman is the new head coach at Chelsea, kickstarting his reign very successfully with four wins and a draw from five games.
In contrast, Villa boss Gerrard looks from the outside like a man under pressure with his side 16th in the Premier League table.
Next, Chelsea make the trip to Villa Park this Sunday to play the Midlands club in the league.

Steven Gerrard praised Graham Potter
Gerrard claims that Potter’s success with former club Brighton proves his quality as a coach.
He led the Seagulls to finish ninth in the league last season. Also, Brighton were fourth in the top division when he exited last month to join Chelsea.
“I think Graham very much deserves this opportunity at Chelsea after some trauma and difficult periods at Brighton, he managed to get them where he wanted to in the league. Graham fronted it, he came through that, he was given the time to come through it and he’s proved that there are good coaches out there,” Gerrard said.

Potter is now setting about implementing his coaching methods to try bring success at a higher level with Chelsea.
Craig Burley has noticed this Blues side are now moving the ball a bit quicker in possession, so his ideas will slowly come out on the pitch the longer he works with his players.
If everything clicks with this talented squad, Chelsea should be confident they can do something special this season.
Potter’s side need to keep riding this wave while they can, and the trip to Villa is a fixture they’ll enter as favourites.
