Mason Mount has praised Edouard Mendy’s passing and thinks his Chelsea teammate is a top goalkeeper.
Mendy, 30, is a Senegalese shot-stopper that will hope to impress for his country during this winter’s World Cup tournament.
The £22million Blues star has been regarded as one of the world’s top goalkeepers in the past couple of years, playing a pivotal role in winning the Champions League.
However, Graham Potter has actually opted to drop him since taking charge as the new head coach at Stamford Bridge.
When both Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga have been available to play, it’s the latter that Potter has selected in the starting XI in-between the sticks.
The Senegal international was the clear first-choice keep under Thomas Tuchel, so to be dropped recently must be a shock to the system.

Chelsea star Mount has raved about the quality of his goalkeeper.
Interestingly, he highlighted Mendy’s ball-playing abilities when it comes to passing out from the back.
When discussing Mendy, Mount said: “You know if it comes down to big moments, they’re going to pull something off. He’s going to pull something off and keep you in the game.
“With the way that we play, the ball at his feet, you need that confidence to play out from the back, and that starts the attack. He’s the start of it.”
Mount is clearly being a good teammate here, because most fans would agree Mendy’s passing lets him down.
The African goalkeeper has brilliant reflexes and is capable of fantastic saves, but the real weak area of his game is building out from the back.
There’s been a notable improvement since he first arrived at the Bridge. However, you’d have to say Kepa is still a long way clear in this specific department.
It’s no coincidence that Potter, who likes his goalkeepers to be involved heavily in the play, has preferred Kepa.
In our view, Kepa is going to slot back into the number one position post-World Cup. That would definitely leave Mendy in a tough situation.
The Daily Mail reported earlier this month that Mendy is now contemplating his future and weighing up leaving the club.
