It is pretty clear at this stage one signing Chelsea would quite like to make before the end of this summer transfer window.

Ever since the start of last season, it has been reported that the Blues are keen on adding a striker to their ranks despite the presence of Nicolas Jackson at the club.

Enzo Maresca wants more options available for him up top, and this could explain the role he played in one of their earlier signings this summer.

It was claimed that Maresca was key to the efforts to sign Marc Guiu, who was spotted in first team training for the first time yesterday.

Links to other strikers have not gone away though, and one player they have been frequently linked to is Samu Omorodion.

Morata leaving may stop Samu Omorodion joining Chelsea

Despite the fact minutes had looked difficult for him to come by at Atletico Madrid, this could now all change off the back of some of their recent transfer activity.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, AC Milan’s imminent signing of Alvaro Morata will clear a pathway for the youngster to breakthrough in the Spanish capital.

The Spaniard is off the back of a succesful Euro 2024 campaign, showing ability many were not too familiar with from his time at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were already well aware that they were going to have to pay a premium if they were to sign the Spain youngster.

Omorodion would cost £70m

It has previously been stated that it would take a fee of around £70m in order to sign him, with neither the club or the player particularly keen on him moving.

It remains to be seen whether the Blues make a move late in the window for a big-name striker, however one of their long-term candidates looks like he could be headed elsewhere.

Victor Osimhen used to be the club’s top transfer target, however the financial element surrounding that deal saw them turn their attention elsewhere.
