How Chelsea duo Enzo Fernandez and Valentin Barco fared against Iceland

Incoming Chelsea star Valentin Barco and Enzo Fernandez both played 45 minutes as Argentina beat Iceland in their last World Cup warm-up clash.

Given Chelsea‘s South American presence, Argentina included two Blues players in their 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Enzo Fernandez made the cut, as well as Valentin Barco, who is set to join Chelsea from Strasbourg this summer after agreeing on a deal and contract.

Argentina took on Iceland in a World Cup warm-up game, which saw the South American side come out on top with a dominant 3-0 win.

Valentin Barco scores a goal for Argentina

Valentin Barco delivered an impressive performance for Argentina against Iceland.

Lining up in central midfield, just eight minutes in, he unleashed a spectacular, unstoppable left-footed rocket from long range to open the scoring in Argentina’s 3-0 victory.

The Chelsea-bound midfielder actually came out with the Man of the Match award, landing a 7.9 match rating from FotMob for his performance.

Scoring one goal from two shots, 31 touches, a passing accuracy percentage of 92, creating two chances, two passes into the final third, making five recoveries and winning two out of four duels.

Enzo Fernandez’s display against Iceland

Enzo Fernandez wasn’t as effective for Argentina, but still looked comfortable after being introduced as a halftime substitute in the 3-0 friendly win over Iceland.

Keeping things fluid in the center of the pitch, he played 45 minutes to help the Albiceleste smoothly dictate the tempo and wrap up their final World Cup warm-up match.

He won three out of six duels, had two out of three successful dribbles, made one recovery, had 49 touches, a passing accuracy percentage of 93, made five passes into the final third, five out of five accurate long balls and had one shot on target.
