Chelsea caught everyone by surprise recently when they completed a deal to sign one of the top young players in world football.
The Blues agreed the signing of Geovany Quenda, with the youngster set to join up with the first team squad at the end of next season.
This wasn’t the only piece of business Chelsea have carried out in the past few days. They have also agreed to sign Dario Essugo from the same club, with the plan for him being to feature at Stamford Bridge as soon as next season.
It is the addition of Quenda though that has got everybody talking, something to be expected when the price is a fee of around £40m.
The Blues have made it their mission since Todd Boehly and co took over the club to secure the services of some of the best young players in world football.

Geovany Quenda’s salary when he joins Chelsea
This was very much the case when they signed Estevao Willian, another player expected to make waves in the not so distant future.
It will be another season though until Quenda makes his Chelsea debut, and when he becomes an official player they will begin to pay all his wages.
According to Rising Stars, the 17-year-old is in for a big bonus upon moving to Stamford Bridge, with his salary set for a significant upgrade too.
They said: “𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚 (𝟏𝟕) will have his salary increased significantly
“July 2026:
—> Signing bonus equal to half of his annual salary at Sporting.
“From 2026/27 onwards:
—> Salary 4x higher than his current earnings at Sporting.”
Quenda’s salary compared to current Chelsea squad
With Quenda currently earning around £8k-a-week (Capology), he is likely to be making more than £30k-a-week upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge.
While this would see him be one of the lower earners in the first team, he will still be ahead of a number of youngsters currently getting opportunities under Enzo Maresca.
According to Capology, the wide man will be on significantly more than Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong.
The lowest earning regular in the first team is Malo Gusto, who is currently on a salary of £40k-a-week.
