How Pep Guardiola actually feels about selling Cole Palmer to Chelsea

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is actually quite disappointed that Cole Palmer was sold to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk.

Chelsea completed the surprise signing on deadline day of Cole Palmer for £42.5million (BBC).

The 21-year-old attacker has been a breakout star from Man City’s academy and was beginning to make an impression in the first team at the Etihad Stadium.

However, the England Under-21 international has made the permanent move to Stamford Bridge to continue his development.

TEAMtalk claims Palmer held a meeting with Guardiola earlier in the summer to discuss his desire to play more regularly for Man City.

However, the City boss couldn’t give him a guarantee of minutes, which led to the process of him looking elsewhere to play his football.

It is explained that Guardiola is ‘disappointed’ that he’s no longer working with Palmer, but he wouldn’t nudge on his principle of not giving his player a guarantee of game time.

Palmer played 41 first-team games in total for Man City after breaking into the senior picture, scoring six times. The left-footed attacker rarely started in matches, though.

Our prediction is the skilful attacker will get a lot more opportunities to cement his spot in the XI at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea operating at a different level to Man City at this moment in time.

Tony Cascarino has tipped Palmer to force his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues starting line-up, as quoted by talkSPORT.
