Alan Hudson is certain a Chelsea team managed by Thomas Tuchel and with Eden Hazard still involved would be “looking to win the Champions League”, speaking to Caught Offside.
Hazard ended an epic seven-year spell at Stamford Bridge when he signed for Real Madrid in 2019.
The Belgian superstar never hid the fact his “dream” would be a switch to the Spanish giants (BBC Sport).
And fantasy become reality when Hazard penned a mouth-watering deal with Madrid worth more than £150m (BBC Sport).
Unfortunately for the Belgium international, his vision of sunshine and silverware in Madrid swiftly turned into a downpour of injuries.
The once dazzling forward has only played 35 times in two years since leaving Chelsea, scoring a meagre four goals.
While Hazard lumbers in La Liga, the Blues have been prospering in the Premier League under Tuchel.
In less than two months Tuchel has turned Chelsea back into top-four contenders and a European threat.
And, despite all his troubles away from London, Hudson still believes Hazard would be adored by the Blues’ new coach.
“How Tuchel would have loved Eden Hazard here. I think he’d be looking to win the Champions League, hands down,” said the former Chelsea midfielder.
Hudson was also asked whether he’d take Hazard back regardless of his chequered medical history.
He said: “Most certainly!
“He had an injury and put on a lot of unwanted weight, which put him back. But he also went into a struggling side as he had it all his own way at Chelsea.”
In hindsight, Hazard may regret leaving the club he called home for almost a decade.
But few can resist the pull of Real Madrid. Thankfully, his legacy in England will last forever.
