Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is worried about the future of his star striker Ollie Watkins amid links to Chelsea.

Ollie Watkins scored his side’s winner against the Blues over the weekend and Emery has confirmed that Villa are trying to tie him down to a new deal.

“I am concerned and we are working on it,” the Spaniard was quoted as saying by The Telegraph after his team’s 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge. “We are in touch. We are talking.”

According to GiveMeSport, Watkins and Brentford’s Ivan Toney are two players Chelsea are interested in as they look to bring in another striker.

His strike against them was his first of the season and condemned Mauricio Pochettino’s men to their third defeat of the campaign.

If Chelsea cannot sign Toney, Watkins would not be a bad alternative to the Brentford man.

He has really proven himself in the Premier League since joining Villa, with his goal against Chelsea a fantastic one.

While Robert Sanchez probably should have done better, the 27-year-old did really well to get the ball in from the angle he shot at.

Last season, Watkins scored 15 goals in 37 Premier League appearances. The England international has actually managed to reach double figures in the three full campaigns he has played at Villa Park.

With such a track record, Watkins is definitely a name worth considering at Stamford Bridge.

While Watkins’ name may not be as fancy as Toney or Victor Osimhen’s, for example, he has done enough to put himself lower down Chelsea’s shortlist of striker targets.
