Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel admitted that he is “devastated” by his sacking as he sent his farewell messages to Blues fans.
The club announced its decision to part ways with the 49-year-old last Wednesday.
The news came as a surprise to many, including many Chelsea fans, who expected the manager to be given time to develop the team he had just built in the summer transfer window.
It did not take long for the Chelsea ownership group to appoint Graham Potter as the new manager the following day.
There have been speculations and rumours surrounding the decision, but there is very little explanation come from the club.
Tuchel, who had not been active on social media since 2020, took his time to send a heartfelt message to the Chelsea fans, to whom he was thankful for making him “very welcome” at Stamford Bridge.
“This is one of the most difficult statements I have ever had to write – and it is one which I hoped I would not need to do for many years,” the German wrote on his Twitter account.
“I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end.
“This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and personally. Thank you so much to all the staff, the players and the supporters for making me feel very welcome from the start.
“The pride and joy I felt at helping the team to win the Champions League and the Club World Cup will stay with me forever.
“I am honoured to have been a part of this club’s history and the memories of the last 19 months will always have a special place in my heart.”
