‘I can see’: Todd Boehly could now go out and sign player Lionel Messi really likes – journalist

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that he can see Todd Boehly making a move for Chelsea to sign Sadio Mane.

He told GiveMeSport that interest has come after Bayern Munich have become aware of interest in his services from Stamford Bridge.

It has not been a dream move for Mane so far since he moved from Liverpool to the Bundesliga at the end of last season.

He recently had a very public incident with Leroy Sane following the Champions League defeat against Manchester City, where it is accepted he struck the German after full-time.

Despite his poor form this season, he has not escaped praise from the best in the past, with Lionel Messi a big fan of his.

Jones has claimed that he can envisage a world where Boehly makes a move for Mane this summer.

Boehly could sign Mane

He said: “It is strange timing for Sadio Mane to be linked with Chelsea, and as I understand, it has come initially from the fact Bayern have heard of interest from London.

“From the Bayern Munich end, there is potential for him to leave the club in the summer for sure, but I’m not sure how Chelsea are really in a position right now to be making decisions over new targets coming onto the market.

“If it is a case of intermediaries scoping things out, I can see why Chelsea are linked. Throughout Todd Boehly’s reign so far, he has always been open-minded about the idea of signing any player with a strong profile and big talent – as we saw when he thought he could get Cristiano Ronaldo.

“So, let’s see how this all opens up. So much has to happen yet, including a space in the team, because right now, the only thing for sure we know is that they have to solve the number nine situation.”

It would be advised for the club to wait and announce a permanent manager before entering the market again for new signings.
