Journalist David Ornstein has claimed that Arsenal are now likely to not make a move to sign one of Chelsea’s top targets this summer.
He told The Athletic that the Gunners have already discarded a number of options to come in as their new striker, and he doesn’t believe they will be in for the player the Blues are reportedly keen on.
Chelsea are widely expected to make a move for a striker this summer, with them still lacking a ruthless goalscorer at the club.
Chelsea expected to sign a striker
While a number of names have been linked with the addition, one player in particular has frequently been mentioned as right at the top of the list.
Victor Osimhen has always been linked with the deal, with him now expected to leave Napoli at the end of the season.
There will no doubt be a number of top clubs interested in signing him, however his close relations with Didier Drogba and John Obi Mikel could well be key in him making his next decision.
Arsenal won’t sign Osimhen
Ornstein has hinted though that one of those top clubs are not one he expects to make a move for the Nigerian international.
He said: “As previously reported and widely documented, Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are admired. As is Evan Ferguson, but the price Brighton would want and the season he has had perhaps makes him less likely at the moment.
“I don’t see it being a Victor Osimhen or Ivan Toney. There will be other options, too. I’ve seen Alexander Isak linked and Arsenal went for him in the past, but I don’t have any information on that at this point.”
Nicolas Jackson has been starting near enough every game for the Blues up front this season, and what he brings to the side has made him very difficult to be dropped right now.
Nevertheless, he has proven to not be clinical in front of goal, and until a figure who is plays at Stamford Bridge there are going to be some supporters who remain frustrated.
