TalkSport’s Simon Jordan has claimed that Raheem Sterling is ‘not world class’ amid rumours that Chelsea are looking to sign him.
The Manchester City man has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad, with the Blues identified as the most likely destination if he stays in this country.
The 27-year-old has been a key part in four Premier League titles for Pep Guardiola’s side, but strong competition as well as deals for Erling Haland and Julian Alvarez have apparently left him wanting a new opportunity.

After joining City for £49m, the forward has developed his game to become a far more consistent finisher, comfortably reaching double digits in the league in all of the last five seasons.
However, Jordan has issued a warning to Blues fans getting excited at the news, claiming the England international is leaning towards becoming overrated.
He said: “I don’t think he’s a world class player. I think he’s a very good player, otherwise he wouldn’t play for his country.
“I think he’s a good player. I don’t think he’s anywhere near as good as people somehow advance him to be.”

Sterling impressed greatly at the European Championships last year, kicking England into gear by scoring their first three goals of the tournament on route to the final.
Despite his summer performances, he was still met with fierce competition for places at City, especially after the £100m deal for Jack Grealish was confirmed.

Sterling has shown on more than enough occasions he has the characteristics of a world-class player.
Despite always having that doubt that any given week he may be dropped due to the sheer talent at the club, he has provided goals and assists that rival the top of the club’s providers.
Chelsea going for the Englishman could be their way of finally replacing the individual magic of Eden Hazard, whose contributions have not been replaced since his 2019 departure.
