Pundit Alan Shearer has shared what he has just been told by Chelsea about striker Nicolas Jackson.

He told ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast that he had heard that his previous criticism of the 22-year-old’s movement had not been over the top, and they had been working on addressing just that.

Jackson was on the scoresheet yesterday in the pulsating 4-4 draw the Blues grinded out against Manchester City.

It had been a bit of a quiet evening for the Senegal international until he found the net, however he was on hand to follow up on a Conor Gallagher shot to make it 3-3 at the time.

Jackson made it four goals in a week combined against Tottenham and City, as the Blues took four points from the games many expected them to be soundly beaten in.

In a season where a lot of attackers are struggling to hit the net, six goals so far for the 22-year-old is certainly decent going.

What Shearer has heard about Jackson

Shearer was recently critical of him for his movement in recent weeks, although has claimed that it is clear they have worked on that on the training ground.

He said: “Jackson I agree, I was critical of his lack of movement a few weeks ago.

“Well I got a text from Chelsea to say that they didn’t think it was over the top and they have been working on one or two things in and around that. He was a lot better today and obviously fully of confidence after his hat-trick earlier in the week and that showed again today.”

Jackson will now be back under threat for his place from the returning Armando Broja for the striker role.

The Albanian won a penalty in his brief cameo yesterday, that suggested that he has plenty to give Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
