Stan Collymore has claimed that Chelsea will have one huge advantage when it comes to trying to sign Harry Kane this summer.
The former Liverpool man told CaughtOffside that remaining based in London could see them hold the keys to the signing ahead of fellow Premier League side Manchester United.
The mess in North London continues on, with former Blues manager Antonio Conte seemingly facing the sack any day now.
Reports are still swirling that their record goalscorer could be on the move, with him linked with a transfer for the majority of recent summer transfer windows.
Chelsea are a side who are clearly lacking in a regular goalscorer. Despite goals in three consecutive games for Kai Havertz, he is not the reliable source in front of goal they require.
Chelsea to move for Kane
Collymore has suggested that the Blues could hold the keys to beating off any rival interest to the signing.
He said: “That man has done just about everything he can for Spurs but now, at the age of 29, soon to be 30, this summer is going to be possibly his last opportunity to move on and go to a club that stands a real chance of winning some major silverware – whether that is Chelsea or Manchester United, who knows, but I guarantee that they’ll both be in the running for Kane come to the summer window.
“If I were Kane, I would do everything in my power to get a move to Manchester United, but that’s me speaking as an older former pro, the fact Chelsea are based in London will probably play a big part as Kane’s family life may mean he doesn’t want to relocate too far away from where he has been for the majority of his playing career.”
The Blues have been linked with numerous strikers this summer. Victor Osimhen has been linked with a move to an elite side after a sensational season so far for Napoli.
They will also have the addition of Christopher Nkunku to deal with at the end of this season when trying to fit in this array of attacking talent.
