‘I just hope’: Pat Nevin admits he wants ‘incredible’ Chelsea player to reignite his Stamford Bridge career

Pat Nevin has claimed he really hopes Hakim Ziyech can use the World Cup to help reignite his Chelsea career.

Ziyech, who moved to Stamford Bridge back in 2020, has seen his Chelsea career stagnate in recent months.

The 29-year-old Blues winger has struggled for minutes at club level so far this season, but he looks a totally different player out in Qatar at the World Cup.

He’s a skilful left-footed attacker playing an important role for his country Morocco, who are now World Cup semi-finalists. The African side face off against France tomorrow night for a spot in the final against Argentina or Croatia.

Ziyech reignite his Chelsea career

Pat Nevin has been really impressed by what he’s seen from Ziyech in Morocco colours in the past few weeks.

He hopes the Chelsea wide man can still turn a corner when he returns to West London post-World Cup.

“Hakim Ziyech has been incredible in his work rate too. I just hope he is fit for the France game and this tournament lift helps his Chelsea career take off again,” Nevin wrote for the club’s official website.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Ziyech’s future at Chelsea remains open right now and will be discussed once the World Cup finishes.

He’s given a timely reminder to everybody, including the Blues, just how good he can be.

There’s been a lot of quality both on and off the ball from Ziyech while representing Morocco, something that’s not always the case at Chelsea.

He’s definitely good enough to be in Graham Potter’s side when he’s fully fit and firing, but it would be quite some U-turn if he comes back into favour at the Bridge.
