Trevoh Chalobah admitted his admiration towards Mason Mount and all the success he was earning at Chelsea, speaking to the Guardian.

Chalobah is currently on-loan with Lorient in Ligue 1, having been on the Blues books since he was eight years old.

The 21-year-old and Mount grew up together in the Chelsea youth system and shared similar experiences of being sent out on loan.

Mount went to Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County ahead of becoming a Blues sensation, whilst Chalobah joined Ipswich Town and Huddersfield Town before moving to Lorient.

Despite foraging in France, the midfielder still passionately follows his parent club and those teammates he shared Cobham’s training ground with.

He decided to demonstrate his loyalty on Twitter when Chelsea defeated Liverpool 2-1 in February, a fixture that Mount scored and shone in.

“There’s loads of people on Twitter saying he’s not this, he’s not that, but I know Mase,” said Chalobah.

“I know the work he puts in on and off the ball. When he scored I had to tweet. I love seeing him do well.”

That win and goal was a defining moment in Mount and Chelsea’s season, announcing to the Premier League they are the real deal.

Some still doubt whether he is the genuine article.

But that circle of cynicism grows smaller by the day as Mount continues to prove his worth.
