Roy Keane has admitted that he really likes Graham Potter as a manager and is delighted to see him get an opportunity at Chelsea.

Potter, 47, left Brighton last month to become the new head coach at Stamford Bridge.

It’s by far the Englishman’s biggest job to date, but he’s settled quickly with three wins and one draw from four games so far.

He will, of course, require time to implement his ideas and philosophy on the players. The early weeks of his reign suggest the Blues can become a more creative and clinical side going forward, though.

Roy Keane likes Graham Potter

Keane, who was asked to name his top three best managers in the Premier League, named Chelsea’s boss as one of his very favourites. For certain, he ranks him among the best in the top division.

“I like Graham Potter at Chelsea. I like the way his teams play. I like the way he comes across in the media. I’m delighted he’s got a chance at a big club like Chelsea,” Keane told Sky Sports, as quoted by Football Daily.

“There’s all this talk about ‘how can he manage a big club and big egos’, but give the man a chance. He’s settled in really well. Every time he speaks in interviews, I think he comes across really well.”

Top start

In fairness, Potter is doing all the right things so far to get Chelsea supporters right behind him. Let’s hope all the players are enjoying their time under him, too.

Everything definitely seems a lot more positive right now around Stamford Bridge, but the fate of their Champions League campaign could rest largely on how they get on tonight away to AC Milan.

Meanwhile, there’s still a pressure on Potter to perform domestically. The Athletic report that Todd Boehly still expects him to deliver a top-four finish in the Premier League.

If Potter can deliver signs of eye-catching football to go along with a top-four finish, it’ll be a good debut season for him after taking charge midway through.
