N’Golo Kante earned the praise of Emmanuel Petit, who admitted his admiration for the Chelsea and France midfielder.

Speaking to The Athletic, Petit wanted to save some kind words for his fellow Frenchman, who is lighting up the world right now.

Kante’s campaign to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or is gathering steam and could seriously ignite if the European Championships goes well for him.

His importance towards Chelsea’s Champions League success was well documented. He could have an equally vital role for Le Blues across the next month.

France kick off their Euros adventure against Germany tomorrow night, with the 30-year-old set to start for Didier Deschamps side.

Nothing Petit about the compliments

Petit, who won the World Cup with France and Premier League with Arsenal, shared his love for Kante ahead of his country’s European opener.

“I would have loved to play alongside him because everything he is doing on the pitch is based on trust, honesty and always 100 per cent always with the same meaning: win the ball, win the game,” he said.

“It’s always the same focus. It doesn’t matter if he is not at 100 per cent, it doesn’t matter if he has personal troubles, it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t like a team-mate — he goes on the pitch always with the same simple targets and I love this.”

Kante for all occasions

Love is a word often associated with Kante, not only because of his infectious smile, but his contagious style of play.

Playing alongside the Parisian must be a joy because of how much work he gets through.

Not only that, he does it with purpose, precision and perfect timing.

Chelsea can thank Kante for kicking off many of their attacking phases, thanks to a tackle or interception.

France could easily build upon a similar mould, owing to the breadth of talent they have in forward areas.
