Alan Shearer revealed he sent Tammy Abraham a supportive message following his departure from Chelsea last summer.
Shearer shared his words of wisdom during a chat with the Roma striker for The Athletic.
The Newcastle United legend was probably not the only one to virtually cross their fingers for Abraham.
But few letters of encouragement will have meant more to the current number nine ahead of his adventure to Italy.
Tammy Abraham takes a flight to Rome
Chelsea’s academy graduate was to embark on a completely different footballing journey after sealing a transfer to Jose Mourinho’s side.
Not many have left British shores for the sizzling pan of Serie A and not come out scorched.
Thankfully, the 24-year-old has cooked up quite a storm in his new kitchen.

Roma might not be pushing for a Champions League spot or have reached a European semi-final without his 24-goals across all competitions.
Clearly, whatever Shearer said has worked a treat.
“Like I said at the start, Tammy has found home elsewhere and I’m delighted for him,” he declared.
“I messaged him when he was on his way from Chelsea to wish him good luck and to tell him to do what (Romelu) Lukaku did.”
Rotten Romelu
Hopefully what Shearer meant was take the Italian top flight by the scruff of the neck like Lukaku managed, not to flop after sealing a move at the end of the 2020/21 season.
Some might forget how brilliant the Belgian was for two years whilst wearing Inter Milan colours.
Having put the Premier League behind him in 2019, the attacker started a fresh chapter at the San Siro.
He rediscovered his shooting boots, scoring 64 times in 95 appearances.

Antonio Conte can be thanked for revitalising Lukaku, his faith restored by claiming the league title due to the efforts of the reformed centre-forward.
In hindsight, perhaps neither should ever have left the city of Milan in the first place.
Conte is only just taking real strides with Tottenham Hotspur, whilst little more needs to be said about Lukaku’s return to Chelsea.
Perhaps he could’ve done with a message from Shearer as well…
