Chelsea have sold a lot of players over the past season or so, and one of them in particular has now spoken out about why he decided to leave.

The Blues have been known to make a number of mistakes in years past when it comes to letting players leave the club who go on to become superstars.

Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne both ended up leaving Chelsea during Jose Mourinho’s reign, and he revealed that they left simply because they wanted to.

Enzo Maresca could yet have let another star slip through the cracks this summer as over 20 players headed out either on loan or permanently.

Interestingly, one former player has come out and spoken about his Chelsea exit recently after finding his feet at a new club.

Callum Hudson-Odoi reveals why he decided to leave Chelsea

Callum Hudson-Odoi came through the academy at Chelsea.

This could go down as another player Chelsea learns to regret selling as Hudson-Odoi has now supposedly now increased his price tag eight fold to £40 million.

When speaking to the Daily Mail, Hudson-Odoi revealed exactly why he decided to leave Chelsea and explore a new challenge.

The Englishman stated.

“I got the opportunities at Chelsea and played a load of games. But I got to the point where I had to look at it and realise it had been nice but it was time to go. It was a big decision but the right one.

“You have to recognise when it is the right time to move on. And that was my time. A case of I needed to get out of there. Not in a bad way but to go and find my football again and enjoy myself again.”

Life after Chelsea for Callum Hudson-Odoi

Hudson-Odoi contributed easily his best goalscoring season, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 35 games, including one against his former side in a 3-2 defeat last season.

Pep Guardiola was even scared to face Hudson-Odoi last season, he was that good.

The winger has been just as dangerous this season for Forest, despite grabbing just the one goal.

During the 2021/22 campaign, his last in Chelsea’s first team, he made 15 appearances in the Premier League, scoring just one goal, signalling the end of his time in the capital.
