Chris Sutton has already stuck his neck on the line about the Champions League contest between Chelsea and Real Madrid, speaking on BT Sport.
Thomas Tuchel’s Blues and Zinedine Zidane’s Whites are due to cross swords in the competition’s semi-final later this month.
Chelsea cruised past Porto to reach this point, whilst Madrid knocked out Liverpool en route to their current staging post.
With Manchester City versus Paris Saint Germain the other headline act, supporters and rivals alike are certainly in for a treat.
Madrid against Chelsea is a particularly intriguing bout.
For all their European pedigree, the clubs haven’t played each other competitively since 1998 and never in the Champions League.
Both sides enter the match in fine form. Chelsea have lost just once in 18 games under Tuchel. Madrid are unbeaten in 14.
Many wouldn’t be brave enough to make a call on the final result, but Sutton built up the strength to give his prediction.
The ex-Chelsea striker said: “It’s going to be a difficult team for Chelsea to beat, but you wouldn’t put it past them under Tuchel.
“It’s an impossible one to call. If you are asking me, I think Chelsea may just edge it. One of my former clubs may just edge it.”
Fond memories of facing Spanish opponents at this stage of the tournament will come flooding back for Blues fans.
That famous 2-2 draw at the Bernabeu against Barcelona in 2012 will live long in their minds and one that Chelsea will hope to replicate versus Madrid.
