Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson managed to score a hat-trick in his side’s 4-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur last night.

However, it does not look like everyone was impressed with Nicolas Jackson‘s performance.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has been speaking on his podcast Wrighty’s House and questioned the finishing for his goals.

Chelsea fans will not care how they went in, though, with those goals handing them all three points against their fierce rivals.

Ian Wright not convinced by Nicolas Jackson

It is fair to say that Wright was not too impressed with Jackson’s goals yesterday.

Discussing his hat-trick on Wrighty’s House, he said: “In his situation, it does look like it needs to be literally fed, man, spoon fed into him.”

Later on on his podcast, the former Arsenal forward also added: “For me, I looked at him and once he scored the hat-trick and even with the first goal when [Raheem] Sterling laid it across, I thought, ‘Wow, that went a little bit too close to that post for me over there where you’re putting it.’

“But you look at it, from an instinctive striker or a striker that you’d expect to take that, and you think, ‘Wow, that was clean, right in the place where the goalkeeper’s not going to get it.’ But I worry for him.”

Nicolas Jackson criticism harsh

His finishing before the Tottenham game had not been good enough. And in fairness, he had pretty easy chances in north London last night.

However, at the end of the day, he still has to get into position and convert.

Of course, the ridiculously high line Ange Postecoglou played yesterday made the above an easy task for Jackson, who arrived at Chelsea from Villarreal in a £32m deal during the summer (The Guardian). But which striker in world football actually cares about how they score their goals?

For a centre-forward, a goal is a goal, and Jackson got three yesterday. That deserves praise, not criticism.

The Senegal international is not the most convincing No.9 once he gets into the box and has a chance to score, but he is still just 22 years of age. No one can really be shocked that he does look quite raw and inexperienced in front of goal at times.

Hopefully that changes. If it does, then Mauricio Pochettino could have quite a good striker at his disposal, as Jackson’s all-round game since he arrived at Stamford Bridge has been quite promising.
