Juventus defender Gleison Bremer has admitted that he would like to play in the Premier League one day amid links to Chelsea.

Earlier this month, Calciomercato.it claimed that Chelsea were looking at Gleison Bremer.

Since then, the Brazilian has spoken to The Telegraph, where he declared his intention to play in the English top flight and shared his admiration for former Chelsea star David Luiz.

Juventus bought Bremer from Torino for £34.8m back in 2022, as reported by BBC Sport.

It will now be interesting to see if the 26-year-old becomes a serious target for Chelsea, with Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claiming that the Blues will sign a new centre-back in 2024 after they sell Trevoh Chalobah.

Gleison Bremer wants to play in the Premier League one day

Juventus are one of the biggest clubs in the world, but Bremer has made it clear that he would like to join a Premier League side in the future.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the Brazil international said: “I have a couple of role models in England playing at centre-back. I watched David Luiz at Chelsea, a Premier League winner and a Champions League winner. But also Vincent Kompany in all the years he played at Manchester City.

“I like La Liga and the Premier League, but the Premier League is a very exciting championship and I watch a lot of matches and they are very entertaining. One day I would like to play in the Premier League but right now I am focused on Juventus and winning trophies with them.”

Chelsea could have an advantage

If Chelsea want to sign Bremer, it looks like they could have the upper hand over other clubs in the Premier League.

Bremer was clearly a huge fan of Luiz and may want to imitate his idol and follow in his footsteps.

It is good news for Chelsea if they really do want to bring in Bremer. But do they actually need the Juventus star or any other centre-half for that matter?

As things stand, you would have to say no. Mauricio Pochettino has Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah.

However, some things could happen that may change the complexion a bit. For example, Silva leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season when his contract expires, Fofana picking up another bad injury or Colwill becoming Chelsea’s permanent left-back.

For now, though, we really do not think a new central defender needs to be a priority for the Blues.
