Ian Wright has suggested that Chelsea would be a complete mess without Thiago Silva in the starting line-up.
Silva, who’s now 38, continues to be such a key player in the Blues side.
The veteran defender has made 26 appearances across all competitions so far this season, but was given a rare afternoon off during the weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Southampton in the Premier League.
According to The Telegraph, Silva was one of five Chelsea players that risked a significant injury if they started on the weekend. Therefore, Graham Potter decided to rest his star centre-back.

Thiago Silva is still integral
Pundit Ian Wright has stressed just how important Silva is right now to the Chelsea XI. In fact, he believes there’s “no cohesion” without him.
“God forbid anything happened to him because then you’re going straight to a place where there is no cohesion or someone to depend on,” Wright told The Kelly and Wrighty show.

Silva is still the very definition of what anyone could want in a top centre-half.
The £110,000-a-week star is exquisite at reading the game and putting out danger, so the defence looks far more settled when he’s part of it.
There’s no hiding from the fact that he’s now in his late-thirties, but the fact he recently signed a one-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge shows he’s still confident in his body.
Potter definitely needs him on the pitch more often than not given his leadership, calmness and consistency at the back.
