Chelsea midfielder N’golo Kante has claimed he is now fully fit and ready to compete for the rest of the season.

He told BT Sport that he is happy to be in a position where he is back to full fitness under interim and former manager Frank Lampard.

The Frenchman started in a midfield trio last night with Enzo Fernandez and Mateo Kovacic, as the Blues took on Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final.

Despite the 32-year-old starting the game very well, he couldn’t do much to help avoid what turned out to be a 2-0 loss.

Chelsea may even be content with that scoreline, given Ben Chilwell’s second half red card that could have seen the tie get out of control.

While there were very few positives to take from the Bernabeu, a fit and firing Kante is sure to be one of them.

Kante fully fit

The France international has been missing since August, leaving a large void in the midfield that they have struggled to fill all season.

With his importance pretty much unmatched since his £30m transfer back in 2016, that absence will be felt hard if he’s not available for near enough a whole season.

This is why supporters will be buoyed by hearing him admit that he is back to full health and ready for the challenges that remain for the Blues this season.

He said: “I’m fine. I’m happy to be back and play with the boys and I hope we can achieve some success together.”

With Fernandez proving to be a sensational addition to the side since his club-record move in January, supporters will be hoping that they will see the partnership a lot more this season, whilst hoping that he extends his contract to advance it onto next year.
