‘I’m going to stay’: Player Chelsea were reportedly leading the race to sign this summer now says he’s not going anywhere

Chelsea have seemingly been pegged back in their pursuit of teenage sensation Endrick.

Last month, Sky Sports reported that the Blues had taken an early lead in the race for the 15-year-old’s extremely valued signature.

The Stamford Bridge scouts witnessed Endrick’s mesmerising talent at the Copa Sao Paulo de Futebol Junior– or Copinha for short – Brazil’s leading Under-20 international tournament.

Endrick scored five times for Palmeiras as they eventually went on to lift the trophy.

He won awards for the most valuable player and the goal of the tournament, the latter of which was truly outstanding.

Those on the Twitter-sphere were treated to a moment of magic when the young forward’s magnificent bicycle kick from outside of the area made it onto the timeline.

Probably from that moment on, those watching on behalf of Chelsea knew that had to snap up this fresh-faced attacker immediately.

However, other than opposition from rival suitors such as Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, another obstacle has been thrown into the equation.

“I have to focus on Palmeiras, where I want to become an idol,” revealed Endrick in a recent interview with TNT Sports Brasil.

“I’m going to stay at Palmeiras for a long time; I think I can bring a lot of joy to the fans here.”

Palmerias require a pick-me-up

Palmeiras fans probably need some positive news right about now.

After losing the Club World Cup final to Chelsea last weekend, they were then mocked by Corinthian supporters who waved a Romelu Lukaku shirt at one of their matches.

They have also seen their side slip 18 points behind Brazilian league leaders Atletico Mineiro

Hearing Endrick’s pledge of allegiance must surely fill them with not only pride but a wave of fresh optimism for the future.

Earning the status of Palmeiras legend will take some time, of course.

Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Rivaldo and Juninho amongst others arguably gained the fabled status elsewhere across the globe.

Chelsea would happily help him on his journey to potential stardom!
