‘I’m in’: John Terry promises to pledge money, as Chelsea fan looks to start Roman Abramovich tribute

John Terry has backed the project of a Chelsea supporter to raise funds for a crowd surfer in honour of Roman Abramovich.

The Twitter user cfcuk Fanzine asked for contributions towards his tribute, as a sign of respect for their departing owner.

Whilst the Russian hasn’t made many friends recently in wider society, he will always be treasured by large portions of the fanbase he acquired nearly two decades ago.

Abramovich propelled the Blues to English and European glory, supplying the finds to find the best managers and players.

There have been struggles along the way, none more so than the recent sanctions dished out by the UK government.

But in general, Chelsea owe a great deal to the 55-year-old.

Hence why there is a desire to remember his achievements via the crowd surfer idea put forward by cfcuk Fanzine.

This plan should seriously start to take shape now Terry is behind it.

Terry admiration for Abramovich

It is not a great surprise that the former defender has offered to support the Abramovich acknowledgment.

The iconic captain won five Premier League titles and numerous other items of silverware under the ex-Stamford Bridge chief.

He helped build the defence that Terry became infamous for being involved in.

Petr Cech in goal, with Ricardo Carvalho by his side.

Later down the line, Ashley Cole and Branislav Ivanovic obtained the full-back positions.

Then came Cesar Azpilicueta, who is still leading the team to this day.

Another Abramovich pupil

Azpilicueta might be able to witness the Abramovich tribute in the flesh at Chelsea’s next game.

Quite fittingly, it could come against another player who benefited from the oligarch’s wealth.

Alongside Terry, Frank Lampard featured in all of the famous sides throughout the Abramovich era.

He was sacked from his role in charge of the Blues, but managed to secure another top-flight job by taking over Everton.

On Sunday, the Toffees face Chelsea at Goodison Park.
