Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has now shared when he is currently planning to retire from football.

He told Sky Sports that he will look to leave the game whenever he is no longer getting enjoyment from the sport that he once loved anymore.

Turning 29 next month, there are hopes that it is still a few more years before Sterling decides to call it a day on the pitch.

However, when looking at recent events surrounding another Chelsea legend it makes it difficult to assume anyone will continue playing deep into their 30s anymore.

Eden Hazard recently announced his retirement from the game, seeing a number of past and present Chelsea names flock to social media in support.

In truth, the Belgian’s career had rather petered out ever since he left Stamford Bridge in 2019, with things just not working out for numerous reasons at Real Madrid.

When he left as a free agent, it seems his love for the game had gone as he didn’t join another club side.

Sterling has now hinted that the same can happen for him, with his enjoyment of football coming before anything else.

He said: “I’m like Hazard as well, in terms of once that moment comes that I’m not enjoying football, I feel like that’s the moment. You don’t want to hate something that gave you so much love. I think you play football until you don’t enjoy it anymore.”

Sterling will be hoping to be in action again tonight as Chelsea face the tough task of Tottenham away from home.

Spurs are looking to return top of the league, while the Blues are desperately searching for form and wins as they approach a particularly tricky set of fixtures in the season.
