Former club CEO Mohammed Hamdi has told Football Daily that Hakim Ziyech should be playing more first team football after the World Cup.

The Morocco international has not enjoyed a lot of starts under either Thomas Tuchel or Graham Potter for Chelsea this season.

This has seen rumours refuse to go away that he could be on the move from Stamford Bridge from as early as next month.

While his club future is uncertain, Ziyech has certainly stepped up while representing his national team at the World Cup.

After raising one or two eyebrows after advancing from a group that involved Belgium and Croatia, they went one step further with the sensational Round of 16 victory against Spain.

Ziyech looked inspired in his role as the leader of the attack. He also kept his cool in scoring his penalty, a feat not one Spanish player was able to complete.

When the tournament ends, there will certainly be questions over his place in West London if he does not become an instant starter among his return.

Hamdi has claimed that whatever club he is at in January, he will be playing a lot more regularly.

He said: “There was some change at Chelsea, also with the coach because Frank Lampard took him and was in love with him. You know how it works in football, but Hakim is really a big, big, big player and I hope for him he can stay at Chelsea which is also a big club. But I’m pretty sure after the World Cup he will play in a good team.”

Ziyech will also have Christian Pulisic to fight off for a place in the starting 11 , with the American also proving he has the capabilities to start at this World Cup.
