Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella says he is very happy at Stamford Bridge.

Marc Cucurella has been heavily linked with a January exit, but the 25-year-old recently told BBC Sport that he is satisfied with life in west London at the moment.

It was a really difficult start to the season for Cucurella, who failed to make an appearance in any of Chelsea’s first six Premier League games.

However, with Reece James out injured and Malo Gusto suspended, Mauricio Pochettino has given the Spaniard minutes in the right-back position in the Blues’ last three fixtures.

Marc Cucurella happy at Chelsea

Last month, the Daily Mirror claimed that Cucurella had held talks with Pochettino about a January exit. However, the left-back says he is happy at the club.

After Chelsea’s recent 4-1 win against Burnley, he said: “I always said I’m very happy here. There were one or two weeks that were a little bit difficult for me but I’m happy — I have friends here.

“Sometimes it’s part of football with moves but now I’m ready to work hard, wait for my opportunity and when it comes to help the team. Then the most important thing is to win games.”

Marc Cucurella’s mood could quickly change

It will be interesting to see how long Cucurella remains happy for. He has got game time in Chelsea’s last few fixtures, so his comments are not a complete surprise.

However, what happens when James and Gusto are back? Their returns will surely see him lose his position in the team.

On the other side, Ben Chilwell is currently out injured, so the former Brighton & Hove Albion man could get minutes there.

But he would still be behind Levi Colwill, who has been Pochettino’s first-choice left-back this season.

It means Cucurella could quickly lose his happiness and find himself in a position where he does want to depart Stamford Bridge in the new year.
