Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will be keeping a close eye on as many international fixtures as possible over the next few days.

Very few sides have as many players out representing their nations as the Blues do, with many eager to prove a point to the boss from afar.

Things didn’t get off to a good start for Cole Palmer, although Christopher Nkunku impressed on his return to the France setup with a goal.

Chelsea have a number of young talents who are already at the level where they feature regularly for their nations.

One of those is Kendry Paez, who is set to join up with the first team squad at the end of this season.

Ecuador manager defends Kendry Paez

Featuring alongside Moises Caicedo, his Ecuador side fell to a damning defeat against 10-man Bolivia, where there was some criticism of the youngster for featuring in the starting side.

Manager Sebastian Beccacece however defended Paez, saying he performed very well before being replaced in the second half.

He said to El Futbolero: “Kendry did very well in the first half. The change was because I wanted to have someone else on the wing, not because of a drop in football.”

Excitement over Paez at Chelsea

There is plenty of excitement over what Paez can bring to the Blues when he joins, with him not at this stage expected to leave on loan.

Caicedo has already described him as ‘incredible’, and will have a better idea than many of his abilities after featuring alongside him in major tournaments.

Paez is likely to feature when Ecuador are back in action against Uruguay in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Given that Chelsea face Liverpool on the following Sunday, it is going to have to be a quick turnaround for Caicedo to feature against the league leaders, with him proving pretty crucial for the Blues so far this season.
