Jody Morris could not contain his excitement when discussing the rise of Mason Mount from Chelsea academy product to a household name.
In an interview with FourFourTwo, Morris was speaking all things Mount, a player who he has followed throughout his career.
The 22-year-old is now one of the games greatest talents, but that wasn’t always the case.

Mount worked his way through Chelsea’s youth system, before heading out on loan to Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County.
Frank Lampard finally gave him his senior Blues breakthrough in 2019 and the England international hasn’t looked back since.
Morris has been part of this epic journey virtually from start to finish.
He was assistant to Lampard at Derby and Chelsea, plus he coached Chelsea’s development teams.
Morris a big Mount fan
Currently out of work, the former Blues midfielder can now reflect on Mount’s incredible transformation.

“And me personally, in the whole 18 months that me and Frank were back at the club, if you look at that spell, I think Mason Mount was head and shoulders above any other performers in that team in terms of his consistency, his work rate, his performance, his day to day attitude and the way he’s grown,” said Morris.
“Under Thomas Tuchel he’s performing at that level again and proving to another top-quality manager that he’s invaluable.
“He’s getting better every year and I think he could be one of the top players for Chelsea and England over the next 10 years. I think you’re talking about a £100m player.”
A hefty price for the best players
Not many names have broken the £100m mark in the history of football.
Eden Hazard, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Antoine Griezmann are just a select few who have smashed the eight-figure barrier.

Putting Mount in that bracket is a bold call, but one that could well be justified in future.
Already a Champions League winner, Chelsea’s no.19 is now aiming for European Championship glory with England this summer.
His tournament got off to a good start on Saturday following the Three Lions 1-0 win over Croatia.
Go all the way in the competition and who knows what his valuation will be next season.
