Jorginho. A man who came in with Maurizio Sarri at the start of last season and came under huge amounts of criticism. However, this season under Lampard, he seems to have a new lease of life. He has silenced his critics and is now possibly the first name on the Chelsea team sheet.

Too slow. Not defensively capable. Easily exposed. All criticisms of Jorginho last year. It became so toxic at a point, that the Italian was the victim of boo’s from his own fans when coming on as a substitute.

How things have changed. Jorginho is quickly becoming a fan favorite and is loving life under Lampard. Now the vice-captain, he could yet become a hero at Stamford Bridge. Not only this, there are the stats to back it up.

He is number one for the number of times winning possession in the Premier League, with an impressive 107. In addition to this, he is proving himself a key component of the Chelsea team, being the only midfielder in the league to have over 1,000 touches.

The Italian maestro is also the top for most passes into the final third by a midfielder in the league (125). Jorginho has also played the most through balls (11) of any Premier League player this season and is yet to miss a penalty under Lampard.

The turnaround in opinion from much of the Chelsea faithful is remarkable. Jorginho has really made an impression on Chelsea fans this season and is proving why Pep Guardiola wanted him at Manchester City in 2018.
