‘It seems’: Thomas Tuchel makes worrying claim about Chelsea star after draw vs Spurs

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has made a worrying claim about the injury N’Golo Kante suffered against Tottenham today.

Kante, who was substituted off in the 85th minute, appeared to pull up with a hamstring problem.

It’s a huge shame because the 31-year-old central midfielder looked excellent during Sunday’s 2-2 draw for the Blues against Spurs.

Unfortunately, Chelsea were pegged back twice to see maximum points snatched away from them in the Premier League showdown at Stamford Bridge. Thomas Tuchel should take immense pride and joy with how his side performed on the pitch, though.

Kante injury against Tottenham

Tuchel confirmed in his post-match interview this evening that Kante’s injury was a hamstring issue.

In fact, he suggested that it could be a fairly serious one for the Frenchman because he felt a “pretty strong” impact on the muscle.

“It seems another muscle injury, the hamstring. He said he feels it pretty strong. So no good news,” Tuchel said.

With Mateo Kovacic unavailable today through injury, Chelsea’s options in the centre of the park do look a little thin following Kante’s fitness concern.

As it stands, Tuchel could look towards Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek or Conor Gallagher to start in the centre of the park during next weekend’s league trip to Leeds United.

Unfortunately, Kante’s started to pick up injuries in the last few years.

It’s no major concern when you consider how much he’s put his body through over the years with stunning energy on a football pitch.

Perhaps it’s a sign that the Blues may actually need another midfielder through the door.
