Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham are two of the best English footballers in the world right now.

Cole Palmer and Jude Bellingham have both been incredible attacking threats for Chelsea and Real Madrid respectively this season.

The former, if you include his appearances for Manchester City, has racked up 30 goal contributions in all competitions, while the latter has also managed to record 30.

In terms of output, then, Palmer and Bellingham’s productivity has been the same, though you can make the point that the Real Madrid star is playing at a much higher level.

Nevertheless, it is quite clear that the two England internationals are incredibly talented footballers, and Rio Ferdinand has been discussing which of them is the better player.

Rio Ferdinand on Cole Palmer and Jude Bellingham

Both Palmer and Bellingham are having stunning seasons.

Bellingham has easily been Real Madrid’s top performer, while Mauricio Pochettino has said publicly that Palmer is Chelsea’s best player.

However, for Ferdinand, when comparing the two, it is not really a contest despite their similar stats this term.

Speaking on his YouTube channel FIVE, the Manchester United legend said: “I think it’s under 21 years old, he’s got the most goal involvements over Jude Bellingham in Europe. It’s a fact, he’s doing it, he’s doing it.

“I’m not saying he’s better than Jude. He’s nowhere near as good as Jude in my eyes. For every one goal that Jude scores, most other clubs it’s probably three or four goals it counts as, you know what I mean? Because it’s Bernabeu, it’s at the Bernabeu, it’s at Real. It’s different.”

Who is the better player, Cole Palmer or Jude Bellingham?

The fact that Bellingham is doing it at Real Madrid and was successful at Borussia Dortmund puts him in front of his England team-mate.

This is the first season where Palmer has got regular minutes and been able to deliver. He has to match Bellingham’s consistency.

On the trajectory the 21-year-old is on, though, perhaps he could end up surpassing the former Dortmund man.

However, at this moment in time, ESPN pundit Steve Nicol feels that Palmer is drifting in and out of games too frequently.
